The PAIC project (Promoting Artificial Intelligence Competences in VET) has successfully completed a series of pilot AI training activities across Europe, marking a key phase in the practical implementation of the project’s curriculum. Pilot trainings were carried out in Bulgaria, Greece, and Slovenia, engaging more than 170 students from vocational and general education institutions.
The pilot phase aimed to test the PAIC curriculum in real educational settings and to assess its relevance, adaptability, and impact on learners. Across all pilot locations, students participated in hands-on training sessions introducing core Artificial Intelligence concepts, ethical considerations, and real-world applications of AI within vocational and professional contexts.
In Bulgaria, the pilot training took place at Nevrokop Professional High School in Gotse Delchev, where 26 VET students participated in a structured programme focused on AI fundamentals and practical use cases. The training supported the development of digital literacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills relevant to students’ future careers.
The Greek pilot, organised by the Academy of Entrepreneurship in cooperation with the Lifelong Learning Centre of Aigaleo (SAEK Aigaleo), was implemented between 8 and 23 May 2025. A total of 85 students from three different disciplines took part in seven hours of hands-on training, exploring how AI technologies can be meaningfully integrated into their professional fields.
In Slovenia, pilot activities were carried out in June 2025 across two secondary schools, engaging 64 students in total. The training was implemented at Strokovni izobraževalni center Alme M. Karlin and Gimnazija Litija. The successful adaptation of the curriculum to both VET and non-VET learners demonstrated the flexibility and broad applicability of the PAIC training content.
Feedback from participants across all pilot locations was overwhelmingly positive, with students expressing strong interest in AI tools and their potential impact on future academic and career pathways. The pilot trainings confirmed the effectiveness of the PAIC curriculum in delivering accessible, engaging, and relevant AI education.
These pilot activities represent a significant step towards the PAIC project’s goal of integrating Artificial Intelligence education into vocational education and training systems across Europe. Insights gathered during the pilot phase will support further dissemination and long-term use of the curriculum through the PAIC learning platform and partner networks.
